Brief

After a significant water related health event, new water regulations were introduced to keep the country safe. Many groups were unaware of their legal responsibilities as ‘water suppliers’ because of their remote or rural locations. Businesses, farmers, landlords, and private individuals had to be reached and educated. Taumata Arowai realised that Fieldays provided a great opportunity. They needed a raft of communications collateral including an exhibition design that was practical, flexible and on brand.

The objectives

Design a welcoming exhibition space that could be used as a conversation hub to help educate businesses and individuals about water regulations.

The goal

Provide a haven from the hubbub of a Fielday with free filtered water, shade and seating. Encourage conversation and learning in this relaxed environment.

The process

Planning, planning and more planning. Concise visuals mood boards and 3D AI mockups meant potential problems could be recognised and resolved beforehand.  The client knew upfront what would be delivered and collaboration between the client, the designer (us) and the manufacturer was smooth.

The deliverables

A flexible collection of exhibition elements that could work across a variety of different exhibition sizes and configurations. Bespoke manufacture of a focal water filling station that explored the water delivery process — source to glass — and which could be disassembled and easily transported. Ensure setup and all collateral items were ready for on-the-day delivery.

Outcome

Four Fielday events, across two islands, with two target audiences and one important health message.

Space for the adults

‘One of the best stands of its kind at the show’. This ergonomic and accessible exhibition design achieved twice the visitor numbers originally forecast.

Distraction for the kids

With free water bottles, colouring competition and bean bags.

Information for the water suppliers

Via display panels, handouts, video, and knowledgeable hosts.
